CERTIFICATE OF VALUE

A certificate of value is a document stating the approximate retail replacement value of an item, sometimes referred to as a valuation or an appraisal. Insurance companies require valuations in the event of loss, theft or damage. The valuation is calculated on current day replacement prices and is issued for insurance purposes only.

Jewels of the Kimberley will automatically provide a Certificate of Value for insurance purposes with any single item over the value of $1,500. Most Australian insurance companies automatically cover any items under this value and do not require an itemised certificate. However, we recommend checking with your own insurance cover and if you require a certificate for an item purchased in store or at jewelsofthekimberley.com.au, we would be most happy to provide one – simply contact us.

The more information contained within the certificate, the better chance you have of receiving a speedy and accurate claim. At Jewels of the Kimberley our valuations include a detailed description of the design and craftsmanship of the item, the cut, colour, clarity and carat weight of the gemstones and the size, shape, colour, lustre and complexion of the pearls.

As an added service, we archive a copy of your certificate of value, therefore if you require a new copy at any item we are here to help. We can even assist you in making your claim with your insurance company to ensure you receive your replacement jewels as quickly as possible.

DIAMOND CERTIFICATE

A diamond certificate is a report issued by an independent gemological laboratory full of highly trained gemmologists. Whilst there are many grading laboratories around the world, there are only a handful that are internationally recognised and respected.

These include:

  • GIA – Gemological Institute of America
  • HRD – The Diamond High Council
  • IGI – International Gemmological Institute

A completed certificate will include a diamond’s dimensions, weight, colour, clarity, cut, polish, symmetry and fluorescence. Only diamonds of 0.30 carat and above are certified. You can view your certificate anytime online at www.checkcerts.com if all you require is the certificate number and weight of your diamond, which can be located on your original certificate or by contacting us.

Our quality standards are among the highest in the industry, therefore when we are selecting diamonds for our designs we only source diamonds of exceptional quality.

Since Jewels of the Kimberley hold such a variety of diamonds in all cuts and colours, we stock both certified and non-certified diamonds, however our diamonds are selected from the most reputable and experienced ateliers. Every one of our diamonds is graded by a professional gemmologist, further verified in house by our very own gemmologist.
